I'm interested in building a prototype of my invention.  How does the process work?

.

A:  Manufacturing companies almost always need engineering drawings that show how to make your product.  These drawings contain information such as material, dimensions defining shape and size, hole locations, and tolerances.  Even finishing processes (type and color of paint or corrosion protective finish) are called out on the drawings.  These drawings are created in the DESIGN phase of the project.  Once the DESIGN phase is complete, we begin the BUILD (or prototype) phase.  With the design information now specified on the drawings, manufacturers can quote a price to BUILD the prototype.

I'd like to start my project.  How much will it cost?

.

A: Acuere Technologies offers a free initial consultation to discuss your project. During this consultation, we will review the current status of your project, and discuss the next steps needed to move your project forward. Bring any sketches or other documentation you have that explains the idea. After that initial meeting, Acuere will prepare a proposal for services that will include a cost estimate, along with a description of the work to be done. Depending on the complexity of the project, Acuere generally proposes a plan with 2 to 3 phases. For relatively simple projects, we will propose a Design phase, followed by a PROTOTYPE BUILD phase. For less developed ideas, we may propose a CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT phase, then a DESIGN phase, and a PROTOTYPE BUILD phase. Our proposal will provide an estimate for the first phase to be executed, and may include follow-up phases, depending on complexity. A project that requires a CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT phase presents a challenge for estimating the DESIGN phase, since no firm concept exists. So our cost estimate may only include the first phase. In these cases, an estimate for follow-up phases will be provided after completion of the first phase. To help clients with budgeting, we have seen a general trend when comparing the cost of project phases. These trends are averages, and may or may not apply to your specific project. But it’s still worth noting, that generally, the DESIGN phase is the most expensive phase of the project. The BUILD phase uses engineering drawings and specifications created in the DESIGN phase, and is often significantly less costly than the DESIGN phase.

My invention will be made of plastic.  Does Acuere offer 3D printing services?

.

A:  Yes.  3d printers come in many sizes with vastly different capabilities.  They can cost from $300 to $30,000 each.  The higher price printers offer better materials and surface finishes.  They hold tighter tolerances for close fitting parts.  We work with 3D printing companies around the country to contract the service best suited to your particular requirements.
